Business and Culture Director required to join our Team at Encompass Care 

 

Encompass Care is seeking a dynamic and experienced Business and Culture Director to join our Executive Leadership Team. This permanent role with flexible hybrid/home working with an expectation to be able to be available to attend our Head Office in Dorchester and visit our service areas across Dorset as required. 

As Business and Culture Director, you will be responsible for growth, identifying strengths in our current provision and create opportunities to develop. A strong communicator, you will maximise building relationships with our stakeholders to shape our future.  

 

You will lead on our People and Culture Strategy, focusing on HR, Recruitment, and our PR Team, this will enclose lots of employee engagement, whilst overseeing each departments individual needs.  

 

You will play an active role in Business Development to ensure the organisations growth and sustainability.  

 

You will collaborate closely with senior leaders, and drive a positive organisational culture aligned with our strategic goals 

 

Our offer to you:

  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week 

  • Pay: £40,000.00 to £45,000.00 

  • Contract type: Permanent

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Strategic Alignment: Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive People and Culture strategy that aligns with the charity’s overall goals, ensuring that the workforce is engaged, skilled, and motivated.  

  • Cultural Development: Play a leading role in shaping the organisational culture of Encompass Care. Foster a culture of transparency, collaboration, and respect, where employees are encouraged to embody the charity’s values in their daily work. To work collaboratively with our HR Manager and ER Manager, Senior Managers and the Executive Leadership team in all functions so that there is a fully inclusive, service delivery and service improvement.    

  • Business Development: Work closely with the senior management team on future proofing the organisation. Strategic management of different funding streams ensuring financial sustainability. Implementing new business, partnership working with stakeholders to enhance current offerings and bringing in new opportunities. 

  • Public Relations: Oversee the Public Relations department, ensuring that Encompass Care’s brand, image, and reputation are managed effectively. This includes monitoring how the charity is perceived by key stakeholders such as the public, donors, and people we support   

  • Employee Engagement Initiatives: oversee employee engagement programs aimed at improving job satisfaction, productivity, and retention across all levels of the organisation.   

  • Workforce Planning: Anticipate future workforce needs develop and govern HR policies, procedures and promote consistency and fairness in their application – ensuring an ongoing learning of HR policy practice takes place.   

  • Wellbeing Programs: Implement and manage initiatives to improve employee wellbeing, including mental health support, flexible working options, and work-life balance programs, contributing to a supportive and healthy work environment.    

  • HR Projects: Oversee key human resource projects such as workforce planning, performance management systems, and talent development programs to support the charity’s evolving needs.    

  • Employee Relations: Lead efforts to maintain positive employee relations by overseeing conflict resolution, grievance handling, and performance management. Work closely with managers and the Employee Relations Manager to address workplace issues in a timely and fair manner.    

  • Recruitment and Retention: Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract top talent while promoting the charity’s mission. Lead initiatives to improve employee retention, such as creating clear career development pathways and enhancing job satisfaction.   

  • Compensation and Benefits: Manage pay structures, benefits programs, and reward systems to ensure that the organisation remains competitive in the sector while maintaining fairness and transparency.    

  • Organisational Change: Lead organisational change efforts, such as restructuring, to ensure they are conducted in a manner that maintains employee morale and complies with legal and ethical standards.     

  • Strategic HR Advice: Serve as a key advisor to the Executive Leadership Team, providing guidance on HR strategy, organisational development, and compliance with employment law. Ensure that all HR policies and initiatives align with the charity’s broader objectives.   

  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with the COO and other senior leaders to ensure that HR strategies are integrated into all organisational activities, supporting the efficient and effective operation of the charity.   

About You: 

  • Experience in business development and revenue generation 

  • Able to form strategic partnerships and align Encompass growth strategy with our stakeholders' market intentions 

  • A natural flair for marketing and public relations with previous experience in leading PR strategy  

  • Proven senior HR leadership experience, ideally in a charity or social care setting.  

  • Knowledge and understanding of UK employment law, best practice, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI). 

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
